ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Schedule resident appointments, surgeries, diagnostic and therapeutic services, etc and compile documents to accompany resident.
Schedule Transportation for the level needed.
Verify Insurance and obtain referrals when necessary.
Complete medical necessity forms.
Contact responsible party about the appointments.
Prepare documents needed for appointment.
Communicate needs with nursing staff.
Record medical and administrative information into the EMR.
Maintain Lab and Pharmacy records on the units.
Schedule appointment for in-house contracted physicians.
Gather information for visiting physicians (i.
e.
eye, dental, etc) and assist when needed.

Maintain visitation lists and reschedule when necessary.
Maintain and organize nursing forms on all units and assist with updating when required.
Answer the telephone on all units and assist with routine information, take and deliver messages to appropriate personnel.
Accompany resident to health appointments or transport to in-house appointments when needed.
Assist the Medical Records Director with other assigned duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed above.
Qualifications for this position is completion of high school degree or the equivalent.
Prior experience preferred.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
Familiarity with windows-based computer programs and the ability to learn electronic medical record charting.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Basic knowledge of AHIMA requirements for charting and recording medical information.
Basic knowledge of medical insurance plans, CPT and ICD-9 codes and keeping current with updates and pre-authorization guidelines.
Maintain HIPPA compliance and confidentiality at all times.
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills required.
Ability to work independently and proactively.
Ability to cooperate as member of work unit and effectively communicate with staff.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a timely manner.
Ability to problem solve, multi-task and be detail-oriented required.
Operate standard office equipment including printers, copiers, fax machines and scanners.
Ability to demonstrate physical fitness to include standing and walking for extended periods of time, moderate to heavy lifting (over 30 lbs) and ability to push a wheelchair (up to 200 lbs).
