Kemper Equipment has an immediate opening for a full time Machine Operator that will be responsible for operating steel pre-fabrication equipment to produce parts for fabrication and production of material handling equipment.
Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Maintain and promote a safe work environment and attitude for yourself and all others you work around.
* Use and safe operation forklift, telehandler, overhead crane, and other material handling equipment
* Operate punching/drilling/cutting equipment to process steel structure and plate shapes.
Machine in the saw/drill area include bandsaw, CNC beam drilling line, ironworker, CNC angle shear/punch line, and shear.
Cut, drill, and process wide flange beams, channels, angles, and flat bar.
* Maintain above fabrication equipment through equipment manufacturer recommended PM service and troubleshoot/repair the equipment when needed.
* Ability to learn to program the CNC drill and angle lines
* Good understanding of fabrication detail drawing reading and layout practices to achieve a quality product.
* Ability to MIG weld using flux core and hard wire welding machines on carbon steel shapes, plates and sheet material is beneficial, but not required.
* Comfortable working with others.
* Owns basic hand tools, layout tools, speed square and framing square required to perform operations.
* Understanding of 5S principles and lean manufacturing practices to reduce and eliminate waste in the process
* Willingness to learn all equipment in the shop as cross training is a company policy for shop employees.
* Participate in quality assurance policies to assure items are built per the supplied detail drawings.
*Requirements:*
* Steel fabrication and processing experience
* Proficiency with reading fabrication drawings
* Strong organizational and communication skills
* Lifting up to 50lbs
* Working knowledge of fabrication equipment
* Must be detail oriented and willing to learn
* Capable of working 5-6 days a week and having dependable transportation to and from work
* Working in a team atmosphere
The right candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate and benefits based on experience.
