To participate in the installation, programming and start-up of Plant systems and equipment as assigned.
Essential Functions: * Plans details of working procedure by determining replacement needs or new material required and develops a logical approach to correct problem.
* Analyzes circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service or replace electronic devices and systems.
* Receives wiring diagrams, specifications and instructions from supervisor covering emergency and scheduled repairs, installation inspection work to be performed.
* Performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes, properties of materials and principles of operation of electrical equipment.
Starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
* Services electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components, circuits, printed circuits, printed circuit boards, and similar electronic devices.
* Installs, repairs, and maintains communication cables, power distribution systems, (Switchgear), and splices pieces as required.
* Fabricates parts if not commercially available, using machine and hand tools common to the trade.
* Determines need for, analyzes, and makes necessary running adjustments, repairs, and overhauls.
* Advises and cautions operators and mechanics about potential electrical problems and inherent dangers involved.
* Notifies supervisor of potentially dangerous electrical equipment noted and corrective action taken.
* Install, program, start-up and troubleshoot PLC, DDC based control systems, i.
e.
, Allen Bradley SLC-50, 100, 500 or equivalent.
* May be part of a mechanical team on major installations, working with other trades such as machinist, pipefitters, etc.
* May be called upon to do temporary or long-term repairs in other areas of Plant Maintenance such as, pipefitter, HVAC, boiler room, etc.
* Comply with all safety policies, report safety violations, and attend safety meetings.
* Report problems regarding food safety to supervisor or manager.
Job Qualifications: * Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions and correspondences in English.
* Ability to effectively present information in a small group situation, and to other employees of the organization.
* Vocational school or junior technical college training as an industrial electrician.
* Formal training in PLC based industrial control systems, i.
e.
, Allen Bradley Training School course or technical school equivalent.
* 5 to 8 years experience as an industrial electrician, including 3 Phase Plant Power Distributions systems, motor theory, PLC controls.
Experience with Robotics desirable.
