Job Summary The General Manager is responsible for the direct management of a Bakery Feeds facility; includes managing and coordinating the activities of all personnel, property, plant equipment, and fleet engaged in the acquisition and processing of raw material and the storage and distribution of finished goods.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities Manages safety program and is ultimately responsible for plant safety; maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.
Responsible for the development of the management staff including Office Manager, Fleet Manager, Plant Manager and others who impact the performance of the facility.
Ensures facility compliance with Corporate policies, procedures, and objectives.
Responsible for compliance with all food safety regulations.
Develops, implements, and monitors annual plant budget; reviews monthly expenditures.
Approves accounts payables ensuring all Corporate accounting procedures all followed.
Recruits and hires plant, fleet, and administrative personnel; selects participants for management training program.
Establishes and maintains appropriate wage rates for personnel subject to Corporate approval.
Responsible for proper training of all employees.
Monitors relationships with raw material suppliers; resolves issues when necessary; continuously monitors geographic area for new suppliers.
Responsible for plant transportation needs for both raw material and finished product, and for all modes of transportation used such as rail car, truckload, barge, etc.
All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED.
Minimum 5 or more years of experience in a midlevel management position in an industrial or plant setting.
Demonstrated work experience in 1 or more of the following: Continuous Improvement 5S Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing Kaizen events Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in industrial engineering, operations management or agribusiness field preferred.
Experience in the areas of continuous improvement, including 5S, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing concepts a definite plus.
Work well with others in a team-based environment.
Communicates clearly both verbally or in written form; excellent analytical skills.
Leadership ability, able to direct personnel; makes timely, accurate judgments regarding production and process quality.
Highly organized; superior time management skills.
Experience working in Microsoft Office Suite as well as an ERP system (ex.
Oracle, SAP).
Physical Demands Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
Frequently must push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
Regularly required reach with hands and arms.
Work Environment Job functions will be carried out in a bakery plant environment which requires tolerance for high heat and/or cold temperatures as well as an office environment.
