WHAT YOU’LL DO As the Seakeeper Director of Field Engineering you’ll serve as the senior technical leadership within our sales, service, and strategy teams.
Your team will provide critical strategic and technical support for introducing revolutionary new products and new product capabilities.
Acting as a liaison between the field and our Product Engineering team, you’ll drive continuous improvement on the design, functionality, reliability, and performance of Seakeeper products leveraging data and feedback from your understanding of our customers’ needs.
You’ll also drive the strategy behind making Seakeepers easier and more efficient to service and install by creating scalable tools, processes and resources that will better connect our internal teams and customers.
You and your team will make an immediate impact to our customers by: Providing technical and strategic leadership for our Field Engineering team, including Applications Engineering, Service Engineering, and Technical Product Management groups Guiding and developing Seakeeper’s overarching strategy, tools and initiatives that support serviceability and ease of installation of current and future Seakeeper products Establishing and driving processes to collaborate with Product Engineering in driving continuous improvement in reliability, performance, and functionality of Seakeeper products Supporting the rollout of new products with project management and development of the technical documentation utilized by the Sales and Service teams Developing the strategy around and assessing how new product and product improvements impact backwards compatibility, including spare parts and remanufacturing process Partnering with Sales and AMO leadership to develop the short- and long-term strategy around which models we remanufacture Overseeing the master parts list, including pricing, part numbers, categorization, serial number compatibility, and software compatibility details through NetSuite records Driving the strategy, resources, and execution around field replaceable bearings, including part selection, kit design, inventory/capex management, location of kits, work instructions, process management, field quality, and internal training Ensuring smooth implementation of product improvements and facilitating the internal and external communication through technical product updates and service bulletins Providing senior-level technical support and training to Seakeeper field technical representatives and technical training department Developing and managing technical sales and support literature and systems that support new and current products, ensuring adherence to Seakeeper installation guidelines, and driving efficiencies in the sales, installation, and service process Researching and developing solutions, tools, and initiatives that drive down installation and service costs and leverage new technology to impact the application and lifecycle of Seakeeper products Driving ongoing development of Seakeeper’s sizing and sea trial programs WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED Do you have a positive attitude, an eagerness to learn and the ability to hustle in a fast-paced environment? MUST-HAVES Bachelor’s degree engineering or an advanced degree in engineering 10+ years of applied engineering experience, working with the development, application and/or maintenance of complex mechanical systems 5+ years of experience managing a team of direct reports, with proven success motivating, coaching, and developing teams Experience with boat manufacturing processes and onboard marine systems such as stabilization, engines, pumps, and AC/DC power systems Experience developing tools and systems that support the application and maintenance of complex mechanical equipment or systems Strong project management, multitasking, organizational and prioritization skills Strategic mindset and ability to develop customer perspective Be professional, responsive, resourceful, flexible and well-organized Be able to work independently and maintain, gather and analyze information skillfully Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to travel within the United States and internationally NICE-TO-HAVES Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D CAD (such as Rhino and/or SolidWorks) and MATLAB (or comparable analysis tool) Experience with boat building techniques and composite materials Experience with Naval Architecture or Yacht Design Experience with Finite Element Analysis and FEA programs MORE DETAILS YOU’LL WANT TO KNOW You’ll report to the Vice President of Growth & Strategy, based in Leesport, PA While this position is ideally located onsite in Leesport, this role can be supported remotely with regular (monthly) travel to our Leesport facility and/or customer locations In addition you can expect occasional travel to other Seakeeper locations or customer locations You’ll occasionally support and attend Seakeeper events (such as boat shows) and technical conferences YOUR TEAM Our Director of Field Engineering leads the technical team within our Sales, Service, and Strategy department and drives widespread impact and interaction across nearly every department at Seakeeper.
Field Engineering is a growing and influential team that covers a lot of ground that includes teams dedicated to Applications Engineering, Service Engineering, and Technical Product Management.
It is a unique department that bridges the sales, service, and product engineering worlds together, ensuring the best experience and peak efficiency for both our OEM customers and Seakeeper Dealers – and in turn, our end users.
You’ll originate, lead, and contribute to a myriad of projects and initiatives around these efforts.
