Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for maintaining the quality of all products and services that our organization produces.
This includes contributions to the development of quality standards, conducting tests and identifying issues in the production of our products or services.
Ultimately, this position will ensure our final products meet our organization’s standards.
Essential Job Functions
The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and proposing measures to correct or improve the final products and processes to meet established quality standards.
Maintain and enforce the SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures), SSOP’s (Sanitary Standard Operating Procedures), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and all other programs and compliance standards in the organization.
Monitor legislation, including food safety, labeling, and product identity standards, communicate relevant changes, and publish implementation guidelines to the organization.
Lead the efforts for regulatory inspections including, but not limited to USDA, customer, and third-party audits.
Assist in development of the department key performance indicators and maintain data to support results, including trending analysis.
Maintain compliant and nonconformance processing through records and tracking systems, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
Participating in customer complaint handling activities.
Maintain and collaborate on the site-specific HACCP, SSOP Quality & Pre-Requisite Programs.
Serve as backup to the Quality Manager for all key responsibilities in their absences or as needed.
Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations.
Report any damages to company property.
Report any animal welfare related issues to management immediately.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications
The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field preferred.
Minimum 3 years of Quality Assurance related experience in a manufacturing/production facility required; poultry facility preferred.
Bi-lingual Spanish/English required.
Comprehensive knowledge of USDA-FSIS (Food Safety Inspection Service), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP requirements.
HACCP Certified, required; PCQI or GFSI Certifications, preferred.
SQF Practitioner, preferred.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to independently make decisions with minimum supervision.
Advanced personal computer skills: Working knowledge of Excel and Outlook.
Strong teamwork skills with a willingness to assist others.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to satisfy all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures.
Physical Demands
The physical requirements/environmental factors for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Must be able to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally without assistance and 100 with assistance occasionally.
Must be able to walk production floor and warehouse building.
Conditions of production floor and warehouse maybe cold, wet, loud and PPE is required.
